INVENTORY REPORT MESSAGE

Definition

The message enabling companies to exchange or report electronically basic inventory data related to products or services, including the corresponding location, time period, product identification, pricing and quantity information.

Principles

The message relates either to a seller (with one or more outlets) and a supplier, headquarters, coordination or distribution centre or from a headquarters, coordination or distribution centre compiling information on its inventory outlets and providing the data for statistical analysis to a third party, such a marketing institute. It enables the recipient to process the information automatically and use it for production, marketing or statistical purposes.

The inventory report message allows the recipient to know for a specific product the location of inventory, period of inventory, product identification, product quantity and value of inventory.

a. This message is intended for use of one outlet of a seller or one headquarters, coordination or distribution centre.

b. If the outlet of the seller, headquarter, coordination or distribution centre has inventory of products of many suppliers then there is one message for this outlet of the seller, headquarter, coordination or distribution centre for each supplier.

c. If the outlet of the seller, headquarter, coordination or distribution centre exchanges or reports inventory of products of the supplier over more than one period then this information can be stored in one message for this outlet of the seller, headquarter, coordination or distribution centre for each supplier.
